Fun & Games

Canalside has full collection of lawn and table games available to play for FREE!

  • Location: Information Kiosk on the Central Wharf Boardwalk
  • Hours : Daily (beginning May 27) 11:00 am – 7:00 pm

Don’t forget to bring the kids to the Beach for some fun in the sand and play on The Children’s Tug Boat, presented by EduKids Inc.

New in 2017: The Dinosaur Play Area featuring an 18 foot dinosaur and themed programming from the Buffalo Museum of Science!

Daily Rentals, Tours, & Ferry Service

  • Rentals (Open Memorial Day – Labor Day):
    • BlueCross BlueShield Blue Bike Rentals offers bike rentals for kids and adults!
      • Hours 11:00 am – 7:00 pm, daily.
      • $10 for your first hour, $5 for each additional hour, or $25 for a full day rental.  Present your BlueCross BlueShield member card and receive $5 off your rental
      • All Blue Bike rentals include a FREE ride on the Queen City Bike Ferry
      • Location: Canalside Information Kiosk on the Central Wharf Boardwalk
    • Pedal and Paddle Boat Rentals offers fun for all ages on the replica Canals!
    • Sail the Canal offers remote-controlled sailboat rentals.
    • BFLO Harbor Kayak offers kayaks and SUP (stand up paddle-board) rentals and tours.
      • Open daily starting May 13, 9:00 am-7:00 pm.  For rates and tour info visit bfloharborkayak.com.
      • Location: South end of Central Wharf Boardwalk, near the beach
    • Water Bikes of Buffalo: offers water bike and stand up pedal board rentals.
      • Open daily starting June 23, 10:00 am-7:00 pm (weekends only starting May 26). For rates and more info visit waterbikesofbuffalo.com.

  • Tour Boats:
    • The Spirit of Buffalo topsail schooner offers breathtaking day and evening sails and is available to rent for private events. For tour dates and info visit spiritofbuffalo.com.
      • Location: Central Wharf Boardwalk
    • Buffalo River History Tours offers boat tours along the Buffalo River, including tours of Buffalo’s Grain Elevators! For rates and tour information visit buffaloriverhistorytours.com.

  • Ferry Service:
    • The Queen City Bike Ferry offers bicycle and pedestrian ferry service from Canalside to the Buffalo Outer Harbor for $1 each way!
      • Hours (Memorial Day Weekend – Labor Day): Monday-Friday 12:00 pm-8:00 pm; Saturday-Sunday 8:00 am-8:00 pm.
      • Location: Central Wharf Boardwalk
  • Buffalo Double Decker Tours:
    • Canalside Double Decker Bus Tour.  Climb aboard a vintage British double decker bus for a 90 minute tour focusing on Buffalo’s waterfront including the Outer Harbor and Buffalo River

Food & Drink

  • The Dish is Canalside’s counter-service eatery featuring not-so-ordinary sandwiches, hot dogs, fries, & more (don’t forget to save room for ice cream)! The Dish is open for lunch and dinner, includes seating and a beer & wine garden- it’s the best place to relax by the water and enjoy the view with a drink in your hand! Open daily starting May 26, 11am-sunset.  MENU

Public Art

Grain Elevator Illumination

  • The Connecting Terminal Grain Elevator Illumination is every night from sundown-11:00 pm and can be viewed from anywhere at Canalside

Shark Girl

  • A selfie favorite! Our most famous piece of Public Art (and darling of Buffalo social media feeds) is located at The Canals, by the Commercial Street Bridge

  • Hours: Weekdays 11:00 am – 6:00 pm, Weekends 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM

The Buffalo & Erie County Naval & Military Park is located at Canalside and takes you inside history with incredible exhibits and displays including actual historic documents, uniforms, military gear, photographs and so much more.
